email confirmation doesn’t send :( (testing registration on my new site pwered by joomla)?

okay I build this site.. then added some new users… (using the admin/new user way)

now what I want is to add a new user.. by going to the site preview and registering it.. all seems pretty well..

i fill up the forms, i fill up everything.. i type (xxx@yahoo.com just for an example) then i press “Send” then it generates a response

saying:
check your email and confirm it.. so I came of a little bit spirited to check that email.. and see if I really got a new mail from my site? but it turns out.. it doesn’t send anything :(
now what I am asking.. is this normal, coz I am just doing this on a wamp 2.0 server? or is this highly not normal? what are the ways that i need to do for me to receive email regarding confirmation.. of account .. upon registering..

thanks!

did you configure the mail options in global config? If so all should work well.

I am not surprised that it doesn’t work when you are running it on a local machine. If you transfer the site to a regular web server (like Apache), it should work fine. You need sendmail or another email program running to have email registration work, a server function.

About the only trouble I have with email registration on Joomla! is that someone has apparently figured out how to script registrations. The user name and real name are always the same and they never reply to the confirmation email, so I just periodically delete such users.
